Apple Looking to revive Steven Spielberg's Amazon Stories

Apple Looking to revive Steven Spielberg's Amazon Stories

Apple who are desperate to grow their movie and music download businesses have struck a deal with Steven Spielberg the maker of "Jaws" and "E.T' as part of a move into creating their own unique content".

At press time, the company had bids out on only a handful of projects, including an update of Steven Spielberg's 1980s sci-fi, horror, fantasy anthology series, Amazing Stories, and a morning show drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, according to several involved. It did not attract wide enough audiences and was canceled but has seen developed devoted cult following, something streaming services crave. They will be producing 10 episodes in the new series in collaboration with NBCUniversal's television production division.

Apple has been aiming high for its entry into the crowded original scripted series arena, going for big packages with top auspices attached. Just this summer, Amblin Entertainment confirmed Spielberg's involvement with a new Animaniacs series, for instance.

In his first year with the Giants, his numbers have diminished, but he remains a distinct threat to any defensive backfield. Beckham had 25 catches for 302 yards and three touchdowns this year, including a 48-yarder in the fourth quarter Sunday.

Over the past two months, Jamie Erlicht and Zack Van Amburg, who left Sony Pictures Television in June to lead Apple's new programming unit, have been staffing up and scouting projects.

The company, however, is looking to change that, slowly but surely.

There's reportedly a budget of $5 million per episode.

We are not sure exactly how Apple plans to use the show. Apple Music has released unscripted series "Planet of the Apps" and "Carpool Karaoke", and is about to release a documentary about music industry legend Clive Davis.

Bryan Fuller will serve as an executive producer on the Apple remake with Amblin's Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey also executive producing.

It is unclear how people will be able to watch "Amazing Stories" or when it will debut.
