BAE Job Cuts, Harry's Gold Award, Parachute Trial Latest

The company, which employs more than 83,000 people worldwide, including 34,600 in the United Kingdom, is understood to be making the cuts because of the lack of demand for Typhoon jets.

BAE delivered the last jets of a 72-plane order to Saudi Arabia this year.

The aircraft is the most important in BAE's portfolio, accounting for almost a third of its air unit's sales previous year.

She said the cuts were the result of internal restructuring, and "not related to any United Kingdom defense spending decisions". "We are confident that we will win further Typhoon orders, what we can't be confident around is the timing".

The group said that it was planning to reduce the workforce of the Military Air & Information business by up to 1,400 roles.

Speaking to People magazine, a source recently claimed: "Yes, Khloe and Tristan are expecting and they are absolutely thrilled". In Touch had previously reported that Kris thinks introducing a maternity line by Kylie at this point would be beneficial.

The firm is set to slash jobs at its Warton plant in Preston, Lancashire, later this week.

As some members of BAE staff do not have access to the internet, the announcements were made in face to face briefings and through notices going out to the company.

The Unite union vowed to fight what it called a "devastatingly short-sighted" decision. "These are world class workers with years of training and expertise on which an additional four jobs rely upon in the supply chain", said Steve Turner, the head of the Unite union.

BAE, which designs Britain's new Dreadnought class of nuclear submarine, said it will also cut around 340 jobs at its maritime operations in Portsmouth and Solent, southern England.

It will also cut 150 jobs at its Applied Intelligence unit that helps companies and governments fight cyber-warfare. "You've got to adapt to the future", Howard Wheeldon, an independent defence analyst, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme earlier today.

RAF Marham is the home of the new joint strike fighter F-35 Lightning II jets, a project in which BAE is a partner.

Sources added that Brexit was "not a factor" behind the move.

A spokeswoman for the company said a "full consultation" process would take place with the job losses taking place between the next 12 months and two years.

BAE shares were down 0.7% to 614.3p in late afternoon trade.
