Air Force Commandos Killed During Encounter In Kashmir's Bandipora

Two Air Force Garud commandos and as many terrorists were killed during an encounter in Hajin area of north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Wednesday, Army said. Two IAF Garud personnel, who were part of the operation for training and experience objective, were fatally injured in the exchange of fire. The slain militants belonged to LeT, said the officer.

Sergeant K Milind Kishor and Corporal Nilesh Kumar Nayan were part of the 14-member Garud squad which was accompanying a team of the 13 Rashtriya Rifle on this mission. Two militants believed to be affiliated with Lashkar were also killed in the encounter. "Two of them succumbed later", said a police official.

The identity of militants, suspected to be from Pakistan-based Lashkar-a-Taiba, was yet to be ascertained.
