Bad news for the Dallas Cowboys. a federal appeals court has ruled Ezekiel Elliott's 6-game suspension is back on.

A federal judge in Texas blocked the suspension last month.

The NFL, maintaining that it adhered properly to the sport's disciplinary procedures, quickly sought the intervention of the New Orleans-based appeals court.

This issue has been hanging over Elliott and the Cowboys' since July 2016 when a former girlfriend accused Elliott of domestic violence.

Elliott has denied all the allegations that he beat his accuser, Tiffany Thompson, but clearly the National Football League does not agree with his defense.

The appeals court ruled that Elliott and the NFLPA had not exhausted all available options when it asked for the preliminary injunction in a Texas court before the league ruled on Elliott's suspension.

Because the Cowboys do not play this week, the union has more time to file motions before Elliott's suspension might affect his chances of playing in a game. He also has 17 receptions for 134 receiving yards and a score. The second-year running back out of Ohio State has recorded 424 all-purpose yards and scored three touchdowns.
