Former Liverpool defender showers praise on Philippe Coutinho

Barcelona had three bids rejected by the Reds over the summer, but the LaLiga side are ready to test the Merseysiders' resolve again when the transfer window reopens.

Coutinho himself handed in a transfer request at Liverpool in an attempt to force the move to the Nou Camp but Liverpool were adamant not to sell the number 10.

Coutinho was heavily linked with a move to the Catalan giants in the last transfer window, but the Premier League outfit insisted they were not going to sell the player.

Bad news, Liverpool fans.

The military official said the family is still in Pakistan, and there are ongoing discussions about how and when they will leave. The only trace of the couple since has been in the form of videos released by their captors and family letters.

Barcelona are confident they can sign Liverpool playmaker Philppe Coutinho in January after missing out on the Brazilian in the summer.

Liverpool will continue to refuse to enter into negotiations with Barcelona over the transfer of Philippe Coutinho, despite the La Liga side's insistence that they have not given up on the move.

"We are ready to buy Coutinho in the winter market or any player the technical staff request", the Liverpool Echo quotes Grau as saying.

With the Reds without another of their key men, Sadio Mane, for Saturday's clash with Manchester United, Liverpool were hoping for a distraction-free week in the build-up to the game. Those Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona rumours are resurfacing.

On Tuesday, the teams took batting practice and the grounds crew got the field ready before bringing out the tarp. "Didn't do too well", Nationals manager Dusty Baker said, "so I'm sure redemption is on his mind".

It's hardly surprising that Barcelona's interest in Coutinho hasn't wavered.

"Of course they are still interested in Coutinho, they've got everything sorted with the player, we've all known that for months".

"I would be gobsmacked if they consider doing business in January, absolutely gobsmacked".

After having three bids rejected last summer, the third of which was rumoured to be in the region of £119 million, the media are championing different stories with regards to what might happen this January.
