Local gas prices drop 8.6 cents last week

In Georgia, the average price per gallon is $2.36, down 4.2 cents from last week.

According to GasBuddy, the average price for gas in Columbia has fallen 7 cents per gallon over the last week. That's 12 cents more than the national average- $2.46 -and 34 cents higher that the average state price a year ago at this time.

In Friday's market action, benchmark USA crude added 18 cents to settle at $51.47 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
