Government of India's representative to Jammu and Kashmir Dineshwar Sharma Wednesday said he was trying to meet Hurriyat leaders.

Meanwhile, Sharma said that he would also meet Hurriyat leaders soon.

On his engagements, Sharma said his meetings had gone well.

He further said that the Centre needed to clear its stand on the state, and that the PMO had undermined Sharma's status.

"We are not meeting (Sharma) for the sake of it".

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vice-president Sartaj Madni also met the interlocutor. "The Congress is the only party which dealt successfully with various issues like Punjab, Assam and Manipur".

Abdullah suggested that Sharma move out of his meeting centre and meet people on the ground, something that Sharma might do during his next visit. He said the PDP had taken a courageous step in forging alliance with the BJP - in the belief that like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will offer enough space for resolution of the Kashmir imbroglio.

On Tuesday, Sharma met 32 delegations but the prominent groups did not turn up. I wish that peace returns to Kashmir.

Concluding his three-day maiden visit to Srinagar, Mr. Sharma met with former Chief Minister and National Conference working president Omar Abdullah.

"He also asked how he can make his mission fruitful".

He said that the trio reiterated their position that Kashmir was a long pending complex issue which has generated untold sufferings and miseries for the people of the entire state in general and for the residents of Kashmir in particular. "Because by sitting inside a guest house and waiting for people to come, this will not work".

Commenting on his meeting with Sharma, Parra said: "This is a meaningful dialogue process because the Central government has owned and institutionalized this process". Omar said, adding, his party has so far not received any formal invitation from the interlocutor for a meeting. "We discussed the prevailing situation in the State as also steps that can be taken to make his visits to the State more meaningful".

Madni said the Centre must do everything possible to regain the confidence of the people in order to sustain the dialogue process until every stake holder engages willingly.

"There are some constitutional guarantees like Article 370 which have been given to the people of Jammu and Kashmir". He was of the opinion that conducive atmosphere is needed for sustainable dialogue and that fulfilling already made commitments was an imperative for this. We have some questions which the BJP has failed to answer. Our point of view was to continue dialogue for peace.

"We told him that the alienation of people needs to be addressed", he said.

"Our other demand was that cases against political leaders in various jails within and outside J&K be reviewed".
