Colin Kaepernick invited to meeting with Roger Goodell

Colin Kaepernick invited to meeting with Roger Goodell

A mediator also would ensure that the discussions were productive and confidential and not used as a PR stunt or prop by the league.

There is now no information from Kaepernick's side about why he has not accepted the invitation to meet with Goodell.

A league spokesman told ESPN about the invitation to the controversial former San Francisco 49ers quarterback.

Geragos disputed the notion that Kaepernick did not respond. The request was sent to Troy Vincent, the league's head of football operations who has been a point person with several individual players who have been protesting and engaging with owners.

Former Texas A&M star Martellus Bennett to return to New England Patriots
Bennett, who went to Texas A&M and played for the Cowboys from 2008-11, isn't heading to New England for the first time. Bennett will join a tight end group which now includes tight ends Rob Gronkowski , Dwayne Allen and Jacob Hollister.

The NFL, though, isn't interested in having a mediator present during any discussions between Kaepernick and Goodell.

"Mr. Geragos' statement alone violates the collective bargaining agreement, breaking the confidentiality of the grievance process", he told ESPN.

As a coalition of players hopes to meet with the league and selected owners in an effort to solve the anthem controversy once and for all, the NFL has declined to conduct the meeting with the involvement of a mediator.

Lockhart fired back after that claim, telling Yahoo Sports: "Troy reached out to Colin directly - not to his lawyer - and said, 'If you want to come in, come in.' This isn't about his lawyer".

Dhaka - Bangladesh and India have restored a railway connection more than five decades after it was suspended because of a war. This will help ease customs and immigration formalities and cut travel time between Dhaka and Kolkata by three hours.

Kaepernick filed a grievance against the National Football League owners last month for collusion since the quarterback has been unable to receive a contract offer from teams since becoming a free agent in March. "The question of, 'Has [Colin] been invited in?' the answer is yes", Lockhart added in a statement to Yahoo Sports. During that same conference call, however, Lockhart reiterated that quarterback Colin Kaepernick is invited to attend and participate in the next meeting aimed at discussing (and, presumably, resolving) the issue.

Members of Kaepernick's camp told Yahoo Sports on Tuesday that he's still open to meeting with Goodell privately. This isn't part of any grievance process. "We don't need a third party".

Colin Kaepernick may have another chance to sit down with the NFL to discuss the polarizing national anthem protests he helped start last season and social issues.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Moon believes Colin Kaepernick has destroyed his NFL career by filing a lawsuit against the league for collusion.

Robert Mugabe fires vice president as Zimbabwe's succession battle intensifies
A former vice-president of Zimbabwe has fled the country in fear of his life, vowing to lead opposition against Robert Mugabe. Mr Mnangagwa enjoys the backing of senior members of the Zimbabwe National Army, while the police support the Mugabe clan.

However, today the player's representative is insisting that they readily agreed to the meeting but were turned away when they asked for a mediator to be present at the meeting.
