Lake snow, record cold late this week

Lake snow, record cold late this week

Due to our cold start, we'll see high temperatures this afternoon stuck in the middle 40s once again this afternoon, but those 40s will come under full sunshine.

And that will mean lows in the 20s and 30s at night, and highs barely reaching 40 for the next several days.

'Doctor Who' first look shows Jodie Whittaker in costume
But the truth of the matter is that this new Doctor's costume is wonderful, and entirely ideal for her character. Whittaker's costume is a colorful, unique outfit with suspenders, rolled up pants , boots and a large open coat.

That cold front will drop our temperatures to the mid-30s by 9 p.m., allowing for a changeover to rain/snow mix that will be scattered across northeast Ohio. Those strong winds will bring wind chills down into the teens during the day Friday and into single digits by early Saturday. There could be a few quick spurts of snow by late afternoon or evening. This cold front will be responsible for rain & snow showers on Thursday, but also some arctic air that will really be taking hold during the day on Friday.

There won't be a lot of moisture associated with this cold front outside of the lake effect snow bands. The record low for Saturday is 12 degrees. The city should see a low about 25 degrees Friday morning, with outlying areas at 20 or below, and "typical cold spots in northern IL possibly dipping into the upper single digits", the weather service said.

Australian jockey punches his horse in the stomach before a race
Australian jockey Dylan Caboche has been suspended two weeks after punching his horse prior to a race earlier this week. He later issued an apology to the filly's connections, his fellow SA jockeys and those nationwide.

The good news is that the cold air doesn't last and temperatures turn more seasonable by next week.

As the wind turns north and then north-northeast, the lake effect snow will move east into northwest IN, with "light to occasionally moderate intensities", NWS said. The periods of snow will be so short that little or no snow should accumulate in southeast Lower. Most of the snow looks to be confined to northern part of the state, where accumulations of up to 3 inches could be seen. Friday night will be another chiller, with lows in the low to mid 20s.

Portia de Rossi makes sexual harassment claims against Steven Seagal
Horrified, the actress says she ran out and called her agent, who she says was apparently unsurprised by de Rossi's story. So far, de Rossi has not said anything further than that, and it's unclear exactly when the incident took place.

Snow will taper off into the overnight and early Friday morning as high pressure moves back into the area.
