Keith Urban set to perform new Weinstein-inspired song at CMA Awards

On the CMA Awards Wednesday night, Keith Urban is set to perform "Female", a new song written in response to the Harvey Weinstein sexual assault and harassment scandals.

"When somebody laughs and implies that she asked for it / Just cause she was wearing a skirt / Oh is that how that works?"

"We're in a room and we're like, 'What can we do about this?' And that's the one thing we can do is write songs", Copperman said.

Urban told Billboard the disturbing allegation against Hollywood heavyweights, such as Harvey Weinstein, Dustin Hoffman, and Kevin Spacey, had made an impact on him. "And as a son - my mother is alive".

Urban's performance was extremely simple and handsome.

Nicki Minaj's Brother Convicted Of Raping 11-Year-Old Stepdaughter
The assaults reportedly began in April 2015, about four months before Maraj married the children's mother. Maraj was accused of repeatedly raping an 11-year-old girl at his home in Baldwin, a Long Island suburb.

"The writers wrote this song on October 10th and I heard it the next day", Urban toldRolling Stone Country.

Urban's wife Nicole Kidman, who provides backing vocals on the track, posted a proud picture on Facebook of her and her husband sharing a kiss ahead of his CMA performance. I grew up in a house with boys, no sisters. In addition to singling out his (living!) relatives, Urban also pointed out that he employs a number of women on his team.

Mostly, though, it's about sexism more generally, with the singer obliquely referencing Beyoncé ("When you hear a song that they play saying you run the world/ Do you believe it?/ Will you live to see it?") and later getting Biblical by questioning whether Adam is more important than Eve. The lyrics streamed on the stage behind him - and they were quite powerful lyrics.

Caitlyn Jenner alleges that "they (Kardashians) bashed me pretty badly" after the book was published. She was aware of it at the beginning, but she put some restrictions on it.

"After much analysis and deliberation, the jury has unanimously concluded that on the charge of being The Worst, Keith Urban's "Female" is guilty on all counts", Andrew Todd tweeted.
