Cadillac's Red Bell Campaign Benefiting Salvation Army in Need of Volunteers

Almost 100 locations around the area are available to The Salvation Army's iconic red kettles this year.

The tree, which Salvation Army staffers and volunteers decorated Thursday, will light up Saturday, when people will be invited to don Santa Claus personas to choose a tag with a child's name for whom they will buy a new shirt, trousers and shoes. A tree at Wiregrass Commons Mall has names of children being sponsored by the program.

You can find an angel on the Christmas tree at the Augusta Mall or at the Kroc Center. Campaign coordinators hope that this year, the community can top that number with a goal of $1.65 million in total.

"More and more people are coming to us desperately seeking help", Major Worthy said.

The presents will be distributed December 14 at the National Guard Armory at 910 Oak Forest Drive in Onalaska.

The Salvation Army kicked off their Red Kettle Campaign bringing back the red buckets and bell ringers for the holiday season. "There will be sixty locations where the bells will be ringing".
