Smog conditions have intensified in the past 24 hours and air pollution rose to more than seven times the safe limit on Wednesday evening, as per the analysis of air quality index (AQI).

A report in the Lancet medical journal last month said pollution had claimed as many as 2.5 million lives in India in 2015, the highest in the world.

He said that in September this year, the PM10 was recorded at 300 units and PM2.5 was 160 and the rise had not happened due to the local problems.

But Patch said the giraffes were doing just fine and going about their lives as normally as possible. Guests pay between $11 and $13 to see the giraffe family along with the park's 200 other animals.

In New Delhi, the United States Embassy's PM2.5 measure showed a reading of 608 at 10am, and a reading of 591 an hour before. Over 250 flights were delayed at Delhi airport, causing spillover delays across the country. The three civic bodies are yet to implement parking fee hike, but Delhi Metro has made a decision to increase train capacity by carrying out 186 additional trips from Thursday.

Describing Delhi's air pollution as a "national problem", West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday expressed support for her Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal and said the Centre should discuss with neighbouring states to find a solution.

In other measures, commercial trucks have been banned from the city unless they are carrying essential commodities, all construction has been stopped and vehicle parking charges have been raised four times to force residents to use public transport.

'TPP 11' trade pact official agreement still up in the air
Last night, Ardern told New Zealand reporters that talks had been "postponed" and there was no suggestion of when they would reconvene.

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), which tracks air quality of different cities in India, strong winds blowing at 15 to 20 km per hour at a height from ground have been bringing external pollutants from Punjab and Haryana into Delhi. Delhi pollution a disaster.

Delhi woke up to a marginally lesser smog on Saturday.

But members of the Supreme Court-appointed Environment Pollution Prevention and Control Authority (EPCA) said that November 13 "is too late" as the "emergency or severe-plus" category under GRAP calls for immediate implementation of the odd-even traffic rationing move. Stable conditions are likely to continue next 2-3 days, which can trap smog close to surface.
