Federer wins opening match on return to ATP World Tour Finals

Tournament favourite and six-time victor Roger Federer has meanwhile enjoyed a far more tranquil build-up having missed the Paris Masters after winning the Swiss Indoors, to ensure he was fully fit for the London showcase.

"This is the best I've felt since the Del Potro final".

The world number 1 says he can not guarantee that he will be fit for the matches.

Roger Federer made a strong start to his bid to cap his golden year with a seventh ATP Tour Finals title as the Swiss star defeated Jack Sock 6-4, 7-6 (4) Sunday.

"My only regret was I would have loved to be in contention through the Montreal finals, Cincinnati, US Open", added Federer, who struggled with a back injury during the North American hardcourt swing.

Switzerland clinch World Cup ticket after Northern Ireland draw
They were again indebted to Rodriguez on Sunday when he cleared a goal-bound header from Northern Ireland defender Jonny Evans . Switzerland were quicker and stronger and started to create the better chances, but could not finish Northern Ireland off.

It was the only break of serve in the match, although Federer was always a step ahead of his 25-year-old opponent, who possesses one of the hardest forehands in the game.

With Cilic's serve looking rock solid, the game looked nearly up for the young German but, cheered on by an O2 crowd happy to get their first look at the new world number three, Zverev dug deep to win five of the next six games to claim a hard-earned 6-4 3-6 6-4 victory. I believe I need to win that one to give myself a chance to go through.

More stoic resistance by Sock saw him fend off more danger at 5-5 but Federer remained untouchable on serve and won 29 of 32 points on his delivery in the second set.

The imposing Croatian came ever so close to winning a second career Grand Slam, making his debut in this year's Wimbledon final before losing to Federer in straight sets.

Even after racing into a 40-0 lead in the fifth game, Sock was taken to deuce before finally fending off the threat. Taking on the power-hitters from the other Group, or Roger Federer is a whole other story though.

Ardern said she had discussed her constitutional relationship with the Burmese military. TPP commitments are to be eventually be ratified and enforced by its members.

"If you asked me "do you want changes?' I will say 'no", he said.

The Swiss star has triumphed at the season ending event, which features the top eight men's players, on six previous occasions. That's what I should have aimed for.

We've played some good matches - on clay in Madrid for example.

Cilic, meanwhile, must put thoughts of this agonising loss behind him as he prepares for a must-win match with Jack Sock.

'White Europe': 60000 nationalists march on Poland's Independence Day
Speakers spread messages about "standing against liberals" and "defending Christian values" during the march. The recent emergence of Central Europe as a crucible for neo-fascism carries a number of paradoxes.
