Sadio Mane sent home from Senegal duty over injury concerns

Last month, Mane suffered a hamstring injury to his left leg, had to be replaced after 89 minutes of Senegal's victory over Cape Verde Islands and missed several weeks of Premier League action before returning against West Ham last week.

Mane starred for Senegal in their 2-0 win over South Africa, which ensured their place at next summer's World Cup in Russian Federation.

"Following the match between South Africa and Senegal on Friday, Sadio Mane slightly felt his old injury", the Senegal Football Federation said in a statement on Monday.

Mane was released by Senegal and is on his way back to Merseyside to be assessed by Liverpool medical staff after complaining of a slight niggle relating to a previous problem, also picked up while on worldwide duty in October.

Mane left for global duty following his surprising return to Premier League action against West Ham, having been previously indisposed due to a hamstring injury sustained during the previous worldwide break.

Mane has now returned to Melwood where he will be assessed by Liverpool's medical staff to determine the full extent of the injury.

Earlier, the CBI produced the accused, who is a minor, before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) and demanded his six-day custody. The CBI said he will be kept there until November 22 when the next hearing takes place.

Before that match, the winger's hamstring issue had kept him out for the previous five matches.

Jurgen Klopp had hoped that Senegal would consider releasing Mane earlier in the event that they ensured qualification for next summer's finals in Russian Federation.
