Android platform stats: Nougat gets some crunch

Nougat has gotten a nice boost from 17.8% to 20.6%, marking over a fifth of all Android devices accessing Google Play Services running a fairly recent version of Android.

Programmer Dan Luu created a graph from the version distribution data, which appears to show a smaller fraction of Android users are benefitting from the latest version.

These not very encouraging numbers stem from the fact that phone makers, as has been the case over the past few years, have been taking their own sweet time in updating phones with Android's latest version.

As he notes, one obvious reason for the existence of more devices running older versions of Android is that some active devices are now a decade old.

In this app, the developer has found activity known as "DiagEnabled", if enabled with a specific password, grants the root access. Alderson said that he would publish an app soon to allow users to simply gain root access to their devices.

In terms of features, Android Oreo is equipped with a customizable system for managing notifications, which can be grouped by type of application to facilitate access.
