Israel Arrests Palestinian Islamic Jihad Commander, Warns Terror Group against Escalation

Israel arrested a leader of Palestinian group Islamic Jihad in the occupied West Bank on Monday, its military said as tension between the two sides continue to rise.

"Threats to target the movement's leadership is a declaration of war, which we will confront", Islamic Jihad said Sunday, according to Palestine Today.

Islamic Jihad, on their part, has sent instructions to their followers to commit a major terrorist attack against Israel as soon as possible.

Officials raise Iran-Iraq quake death toll to 530
Iran was struggling to deliver relief 48 hours after the worst natural disaster to strike the country in more than a decade. Iran has encountered multiple earthquakes in its past, as it sits atop of the Arabian and Eurasian tectonic plates.

For the second time in less than 12 hours, Israel threatened both the Islamic Jihad and Hamas to violently retaliate to any plans or attempts to carry out attacks in response to the bombing of the tunnel on the Gaza Strip border last month, which killed 12 militants from the two movements, including five whose bodies were taken by the Israeli army.

The United States considers Islamic Jihad to be a terrorist organization as well.

"We are aware of the plot that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group plans against Israel". Ten members of the group died in the tunnel.

The U.N. also voiced its concern about the threat of an imminent attack by the Islamic Jihad and the potential repercussions, in particular on an ongoing reconciliation process between the leading Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas to bring Gaza back under the control of the internationally recognized Palestinian Authority. They are playing with fire at the expense of the residents of Gaza, the Palestinian reconciliation efforts, and the stability of the entire region.

"There are those who are still manipulating the idea of launching new attacks on Israel". "We will take a very strong hand against anyone who tries to attack us or attacks us from any sector". "In any case, we see Hamas as responsible for every attack that emanates from, or is planned against us in, the Gaza Strip", he said.
