SC Congressman Jim Clyburn Becomes More Critical of Conyers

High-ranking House Democrat James Clyburn, S.C., should resign after remarks he made defending his colleague - accused sexual abuser Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich. - said LevinTV host Mark Levin on his national radio program Wednesday.

The call comes at the heals of the chamber's top Democrat - House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi - did the same just hours after a former aide publicly accused Conyers of sexual harassment, telling NBC's "Today" show that she was sacked for rejecting his advances.

A New York Times Magazine reporter says Clyburn pointed-out to members and staffers that all the accusers against Congressman John Conyers are white women.

Brown described one incident in 2005 when Conyers allegedly invited her to a Chicago hotel room where she found him dressed only in his underwear.

She told NBC that she signed a nondisclosure agreement when she reached a settlement with Conyers. Pelosi's call was a shift from her earlier statement that Conyers was an "icon" who deserved "due process". "He has touched me in different ways, and it was very uncomfortable and very unprofessional", Brown said with her lawyer, Lisa Bloom, by her side. "I don't hate him. I did tell him I was not going to do that and I did not feel comfortable".

Brown said she didn't know what to do and was frozen in that moment.

Brown told Henderson that Conyers enjoyed creating a hostile work environment for the mostly female staff in his Detroit office, with the women competing against each other.

A request for comment on Brown's statements was not immediately returned by Conyers' attorney.

"I felt it was worth the risk to stand up for all the women in the workforce that are voiceless", she said.

"I pray for Congressman Conyers and his family and wish them well".

Brown wouldn't say whether she believed Conyers should resign.

Brown said she wants Conyers to apologize to her and "acknowledge some of the things he's done".
