Central Florida tabs Missouri coordinator Josh Heupel as coach

Heupel, a standout quarterback at Aberdeen Central in the 1990's and later a Heisman Trophy runner-up and 2001 AP Player of the Year at Oklahoma, comes to Orlando after spending the last two seasons as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Missouri. Other names that were rumored according to sources were Tony Elliot, the offensive coordinator at Clemson, current UCF offensive coordinator Troy Walters and Toledo head coach Jason Candle.

Heupel says in a statement that he is excited "to get a staff together and get to work with our wonderful student-athletes".

This marks Heupel's first head coaching job.

Frist departed UCF after leading the Knights to a victory in the AAC Championship and a berth in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl where they will face off against Auburn on January 1.

Starbucks' New China Store Is the Size of a Supermarket
Starbucks already has more than 600 stores in Shanghai - the largest number of stores in any city where Starbucks has a presence. There are plans for a fancy Starbucks roastery to open in NY next year, but the company says it won't be quite as large.

Athletic director Danny White says he believes UCF has "identified one of the brightest minds in college football" in Heupel.

Heupel takes over a UCF program coming off its best regular season in school history. OU then brought in Lincoln Riley, who was promoted to head coach after Bob Stoops retired. The former Miami coach finished the season as Florida's interim coach. What we do know is that the Heupel hiring came nearly out of nowhere.

"I think we got a victor, someone that will lead our group as the rest of our head coaches do", White said.

"When I was first contacted I poured over some guys who I wanted".

Trump scales back 2 big Utah national monuments
Dan Smuts, the Senior Director of the Pacific Region Wilderness Society worries what happened in Utah could set a precedent. President Trump says there's been "a massive federal land grab" which has taken away state's rights.

"You could see his knowledge", White said. He's going to run a 3-4 scheme that has the ability to move in a four-man front. "I'm confident we can continue the momentum". "He's no stranger to success, winning a national championship as a quarterback and leading a number of extremely high-powered offensive teams". That's the style that's true to me.

Heupel takes over for Frost, who left UCF to take over at his alma matter Nebraska, after coaching the No. 10 Knights to an undefeated season in 2017 and upcoming appearance in the Peach Bowl against No. 7 Auburn on New Year's Day.

During his time at Missouri, he coached quarterback Drew Lock to become the SEC leader in passing yards.

With Heupel leading the way, Oklahoma won in 2000.
