Along with vehicle, public transport, and walking options, motorbike mode has shorter travel times which take into account the speed of bikes, and routes that take advantage of motorbikes' ability to fit down smaller alleys and passages. It also has the most widely used mobile operating system, a solid video streaming platform, excellent maps and navigation, cloud services and the list just goes on. This is a huge number and to address that, Google today announced a two-wheeler navigation mode for Google Maps, which is also an India-first feature. "India is also one of the top 3 country for user contributions for maps", Martha Welsh, Director, Google Maps, said making the announcement.

It seems motorbike mode is part of a wider Google initiative to support two-wheelers. The new travel mode in Google Maps in India is seen alongside Drive, Train or Bus and Walk alternatives. The route map, too, has been completely redesigned for two wheeler mode, with more landmarks, as people tend to learn about the routes using landmarks before starting a journey. "It is now available in India starting today, with plans to roll out the feature in other countries in the coming months".
