Tens Of Thousands Evacuated As Wildfire Grows In Southern California

One person died in a auto crash trying to evacuate the fire that first broke out Monday night.

According to officials, the cities of Ventura and Santa Paula are also threatened. By midnight, the fire was estimated to have reached 10,000 acres.

"Due to the intensity of the fire, crews are having trouble making access and there are multiple reports of structures on fire". Numerous evacuated homes were in that city.

Authorities said that the city of Ventura, which is 12 miles southwest and has 106,000 residents, was likely to feel the effects soon.

A Winter Storm Will Impact The Area Monday
A quick burst of snow is expected in the mountains Sunday night into Monday morning, according to the National Weather Forecast. The combination of falling snow and a very strong northwest wind will create low visibilities with near blizzard conditions.

"It was just exponential, huge growth because the winds, 50 mile an hour out of the east, were just pushing it and growing it very, very large, very quickly", Lorenzen said shortly after sunrise. More than 27,000 people were evacuated and one firefighter suffered bumps and bruises in a vehicle accident in Ventura County.

"The prospects for containment are not good". "Really, Mother Nature is going to decide when we have the ability to put it out".

At least two structures have already burned and power outages have been reported across the county. One of the blazes broke out Monday in Ventura County and grew wildly to more than 70 square miles (180 square kilometers) in a matter of hours, county Fire Chief Mark Lorenzen said.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

New patches bring a bunch of fixes and features, but unfortunately they can also introduce more problems than they fix. This new feature lets iOS users do in iMessage what Venmo has done for years - send money through an app.

Adding to the difficulty of fighting this fire, the National Weather Service predicts continued high winds and low humidity throughout the week.

Los Angeles County firefighters will send a strike team to the Malibu area Monday morning, putting five fire engines and about 25 firefighters into the heart of the fire-prone Santa Monica Mountains.

Shelters have been set up a local school and county fairgrounds for evacuees.
