NCAA president criticizes LaVar Ball for pulling son LiAngelo out of UCLA

Television viewers today have so many options for entertainment, be it from Netflix, Hulu or another service.

First, let me say this, I've stayed far away from Mr. Ball and his antics in any column or story. Even non-sports fans will enjoy the boisterous bickering between the loud and tenacious Ball and the talk show's hosts, especially the stubborn and emphatic Stephen A. Smith. In light of Ball's latest involvement in dealings with President Donald Trump, I thought I would look more into Ball's antics and figure out whether or not I agree with this reputation, though it's hard not to at this point.

Still, the idea of college is to prepare students to be successful at a profession.

LaVar appears to have consistent issues with schools.

It was announced this week that Ball has withdrawn from UCLA in part because of a perceived unfair treatment from the university in the wake of his overseas arrest for shoplifting.

The global incident made headlines, especially after President Donald Trump boasted on Twitter that he helped free LiAngelo from China's legal system.

UCLA basketball player LiAngelo Ball is surrounded by reporters and photographers as he leaves Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, in Los Angeles. This prompted Ball to downplay Trump's role in the process, giving Ball more attention than he has ever had in the sporting world, as his actions bridged over into the realm of politics and world affairs.

I'll be the first to admit, I didn't think much of the Ball family when I first heard about three brothers in California who were hyped to be the next great family in basketball.

With oldest son Lonzo struggling in his rookie NBA season for the Los Angeles Lakers, LiAngelo now without a school or place to play basketball, and LaMelo's college future uncertain, LaVar's words to CNN could end up as the family's legacy.

Instead, he praised Ball's work ethic in the classroom and simply said he was "surprised" by the news. As a former middle school basketball coach, I've witness firsthand how parents think little Johnny or Susan are the next great Olympians and anyone who tells them otherwise is insane and doesn't know what they're talking about. "I'm at the Ostin Center every day working, so if they need to talk, they know where to find me".

Whatever his intentions, I can personally say I am exhausted of seeing him in the news.
