Amazon launches Prime programme in Singapore

The push into Singapore follows Amazon's official launch in Australia earlier this month.

Giving Amazon Handmade artisans the ability to ship through Prime Now will help small local artisan businesses overcome delivery issues, by taking advantage of Amazon's one and two-hour delivery service.

Now Amazon, which had been offering its two-hour delivery service Prime Now for free on a United States dollars 29.70 minimum purchase in Singapore without any membership fee, will start charging USD 6.65 per month after a limited introductory period.

The free two-hour delivery on orders over SGD40, between 10am and 10pm daily via the Prime Now app, will also apply to Prime members. Starting from this week, in any case, it is putting forth its full Prime package which incorporates the free global transporting on orders of over SG$40 and memberships to its Prime Video administration and Prime Twitch advertising.

Most US Airlines Set To Limit Use Of 'Smart Bags'
Batteries in carry-on smart bags can remain installed, but passengers must be able to remove them, the carriers say. It also requires that any spare lithium batteries travel only in carry-on baggage with passengers.

But for a limited period, it goes for $2.99 a month, although Amazon did not specify for how long.

Jamil Ghani, Vice President of Amazon Prime International said that Singapore Prime members can expect more added benefits in the future.

However, this does mean the previously free Prime Now service is gone, and users will have to subscribe to Prime if they even want to make a purchase locally, unlike local rivals Redmart and Honestbee, which do not require a subscription to order products such as diapers or groceries.

Mr Ghani noted that Singapore customers are "hyper-connected and mobile-first" but declined to comment on whether a local Amazon online store is forthcoming.

Winless Browns fire VP Sashi Brown
While Brown was done in by the team's lack of success, Jackson said that he did not doubt that he'd return despite a 1-27 mark. Brown's firing didn't cause any uproar among Cleveland's players, some of whom have been hardened by the constant turnover.

Perhaps anticipating Amazon's move into the region, Lazada launched a service called LiveUp that integrated Uber and Netflix with its own e-commerce offerings.

Mr Amos Tan, a Singapore Polytechnic senior lecturer in marketing and retail, said Amazon's removal of free shipping for non-members is a way of trying to lock in more customers.

Amazon on Tuesday stopped free shipping options to Singapore for qualifying items over S$168 were reported to be no longer applicable, media reported.
