Speaking at a meeting on the Session's eve, Modi again pitched for simultaneous polls for the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies saying that holding elections once in five years will boost development. At parliamentary party meets, Modi and Shah have repeatedly asked lawmakers to be present in full strength.

As Winter Session of Parliament begins on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoped that the session is a productive one.

"Either the government should prove the claim or the Prime Minister must apologise. Nothing short of an apology will satisfy us", its leader Anand Sharma said.
