Florida minimum wage set to rise Monday

A new year on Monday will bring a slight increase in New Jersey's minimum wage. Smaller firms will have to pay $10.50.

Policy Matters Ohio estimates 146,000 Ohio workers making under $8.30 now will see a small raise, and another 478,000 earning slightly more will "likely" get a pay bump.

The city this week filed a notice that it is appealing a December 13 decision by the 3rd District Court of Appeal that rejected the local minimum wage, which was approved in 2016 and was slated to take effect in 2018.

The citizen-approved law increased the wage to $9 per hour a year ago, and it will rise to $10 per hour on January 1.

A full-time minimum wage earner makes less than $18,000 a year, less than half of the estimated $37,974 advocacy groups say a single person needs to cover basic expenses in New Jersey. In the Sacramento region, they estimated more than 350,000 workers would be affected by the higher wage.
