Early morning Berkeley quake downgraded to Magnitude 4.4

An estimated 9.8 million people felt a magnitude 4.4 quake that rumbled across the Bay Area early Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The quake struck about 2 kilometers southeast of Berkeley at 2:39 a.m., according to the U.S.
