Trump 'Unlikely' to Meet Mueller, Backpedals on Previous Commitment

Trump, who kicked Wednesday off by railing against the Russian Federation "witch hunt", said during the press conference that the investigation has been a "phony cloud over this administration, over our government".

President Donald Trump says it "seems unlikely" that he'll give an interview in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into potential coordination between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

A Politico/Morning Consult poll found 48 percent of respondents said special counsel Robert Mueller will exonerate Trump in 2018 while just 37 percent said it was not too likely or not at all likely Trump will be cleared of any wrongdoing related to Russian interference. Trump's lawyers have previously stated their determination to cooperate with Mueller's requests. He said, "It seems unlikely you'd even have an interview". "There was no collusion, everybody including the Dems knows there was no collusion, & yet on and on it goes", Trump tweeted Wednesday.

Trump denied any collusion on his campaign's part but instead accused Democrats of colluding with Russian Federation. The FBI is investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 USA presidential election and whether the Trump campaign colluded with the foreign adversary.

But the president's legal team is considering a number of possible options for such an interview, including an in-person interview of Trump, written responses to questions submitted by Mueller's investigative team or an affidavit signed by the president stating his position on the case. "Republicans should finally take control!" the commander-in-chief wrote.

Headlines questioning whether Trump could be removed under the 25th Amendment, which allows Congress to remove a president from power if he or she is "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office", followed the book's publication, as did renewed speculation of impeachment.
