Ford unveils all-new Edge ST before Detroit auto show

Ford unveils all-new Edge ST before Detroit auto show

The Edge ST offers a Sport Mode that provides heightened throttle response, rev-matched downshifts on braking, sharper engine braking and gear-holding in cornering.

Ordinarily the revisions to the Ford Edge for the 2019 model year would be characterized as an extensive freshening-updates to the exterior, interior, and electronics, but no changes to the basic sedan-derived architecture: chassis dimensions and structure carry over.

Where it differs most from the ST-branded Ford's of the past is in its sole available transmission - a brand-new 8-speed automatic, shared with the rest of the 2019 Edge lineup - and its standard all-wheel-drive.

Former BCS poll has UCF ranked No. 1 over Alabama
People are so upset with UCF crowning themselves national champions, and now people are even complaining about them getting first-place votes.

It isn't much faster than the American Edge Sport model, gaining just 20bhp and 30lb ft. In fairness, it probably won't come to the United Kingdom but America should lap it up - or at least that's what Ford is hoping. Paddle shifters allow drivers to switch into manual mode.

The 2019 Edge debuts at the Detroit Auto Show next week and hits showrooms this summer.

No pricing details are available at this point for the new Ford Performance Edge ST model, but a 2018 Ford Edge Sport retails for roughly $40,000. Not anymore, though, as now there's a 2019 Edge ST in town. That includes: Forward collusion warning and dynamic brake support; pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection; BLIS with cross-traffic alert; lane-keeping alert; lane-keeping assist; auto high beams and hill-start assist. Because the Edge already has the Sport model in its ranks, the Edge ST won't be quite as dramatic a step up in performance as the ST models in the Focus and Fiesta ranges are. The standard 2.0-liter EcoBoost gets 5 more horsepower, with an eight-speed automatic replacing the old six-speed.

National Football League investigating Raiders for 'Rooney Rule' violation, report says
Gruden coached the Raiders from 1998 to 2001 before being traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and capturing Super Bowl XXXVII. Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said Tuesday that he interviewed two minority candidates prior to Gruden's hiring.

The 2019 Edge EcoBoost model with the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, now makes 250 hp in USA spec, up by 5 hp a year ago. It's like the existing Edge Sport, only more so. New options include a 12-speaker B&O Play premium audio system by Bang & Olufsen, Qi wireless smartphone charging and remote start.

The all-new performance SUV has a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 engine that churns out 335-horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque.

Ford's typical oval grille is larger than on the standard vehicle, and includes wider mesh to allow the Edge to take in more air. A redesigned center console is now anchored by that rotary gearshift dial, which also frees up space. There's now autonomous emergency braking, evasive steering assist, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go functioning on offer.

Overwatch League: Twitch snaps up broadcast rights
It's not such a surprise the event attracted so many eyeballs, the Overwatch League has had a huge PR push over the last 24 hours. The deal was driven in part by scale, with both Twitch and Overwatch League bringing their own user base to the table.
