Kyrgios wins Brisbane International

Kyrgios wrapped up the first set in 37 minutes despite having to save five break-points.

The serve of Kyrgios proved a particularly potent weapon on Sunday as he sent down 17 aces - including two in succession to finish the match - and dropped only two service points in a one-sided second set.

There was nearly an all-Australian final, but wildcard Alex de Minaur's courageous run ended after a narrow defeat to American Ryan Harrison, who won 4-6 7-6 (7/5) 6-4.

Third seed Kyrgios, 22, did not look comfortable from the outset with his left knee strapped after tweaking it in his second-round win over fellow Australian Matthew Ebden.

"I try to block it out most of the time because one week they're saying something good and one week they're saying something bad, so I guess I don't really listen to it at all", Kyrgios said.

Nick Kyrgios wins the 2018 Brisbane International in his home country of Australia.

Kyrgios only got better from that point on though, a 17th ace sealing the victory in 1 hour and 13 minutes as he appeared largely untroubled in his movement.

"I don't know what was going on (in the first set) - I was a bit exhausted, " Kyrgios said.

"You have some of your biggest highs and then you've got some matches where you finish and you're a little bit heartbroken", de Minaur said.

There was no shortage of emotions for Alex de Minaur after the Australian wildcard's giant killing run finally came to an end in the Brisbane International semi-finals on Saturday.

During the deciding third set, Kyrgios - already a break up - made a decision to take his chance by charging up on a Dimitrov serve. This week he beat Dimitrov in three sets in the semifinals.
