Why Gillian Anderson is leaving The X-Files

Why Gillian Anderson is leaving The X-Files

At New York Comic-Con in October, Anderson indicated that the new season would be her last, although FOX issued a statement at the time saying Anderson "has not commented on returning as it's premature in that she is now filming the new event series". Its 11th season premiered last week (January 3) in the USA and will air in the United Kingdom later this year on Channel 5. However, it's the way in which their old friends reaches out to them that is sure to get fans talking as is the chilling secret revealed from their encounter.

The X-Files returns for Season 11 in 2018, and will mark the last ride for Scully. It's not as if Anderson has just been sitting around twiddling her thumbs with nothing to do when The X-Files wasn't on TV.

The 11th series, comprising 10 episodes, has recently started airing in the USA, and Anderson has said she will now step down from the show because "it's time for me to hang up Scully's hat".

'I, Tonya' is a smash with Utah audiences - but why?
Jack Smith , AP Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding at the center of media attention during trainng at Lillehammer, Norway. It's an unfair, distasteful social habit that you would think the compassionate progressives in Hollywood would avoid.

Gillian had admitted she was thinking about leaving after the show, and during a Television Critics Association (TCA) panel discussion on Wednesday, she declared she was done and ruled out any potential return in the future. It's been an extraordinary character, but there's lots of things to do and I don't want to be tied down doing one thing. "I have so much respect for these guys", she said of her colleagues, "but I'm finished and thats the end of that..." I thought that the previous six was going to be it.

Just because Anderson is leaving doesn't necessarily mean The X-Files has to end, though.

"I've tried to say goodbye to Fox Mulder many times and I failed", he said.

James Franco Accused of 'Sexually Exploitative' Behavior by Five Women
His attorney, Michael Plonsker , specifically said, "the allegations about the protective guards are not accurate". Acknowledging that he had read "a couple" of the tweets, Franco told a stone-faced Meyers, "I haven't responded".

As of now, "The X-Files" is only slated for the 10 episodes in season 11 with no commitment from FOX beyond what's already been scheduled. While that's not really any worse than most of the other shows on Fox we have to believe (slight X-Files nod intended) that this is a show they were expecting more out of given its fame and pedigree.

"The X-Files" star Gillian Anderson said that she made a decision to leave the Fox series because there are a lot of things she wants to do in her life and in her acting career.
