Three women were killed and three police officers injured in a risky barricade incident at a Detroit home that lasted from Sunday night through Monday, Detroit police said.

The suspect has not been spoken to since 2:30 a.m. Monday and remains barricaded inside the home.

WDIV reports that police were called to Lamont Street around 10:20 p.m. following a report about shots being fired.

The officer is in stable condition.

Two women were shot outside the house.

Craig says there was a second attack on the officers, where a DPD officer was shot and was rescued by his partner and other officers.

Police said the suspect told them he was "not going down without a fight", according to ABC13.

Patrol cars, unmarked police cars, a Border Patrol auto, a tank-like vehicle and others flanked Outer Drive as officers responded to the barricaded gunman. Craig, however, said that information had not been confirmed.

Smith did not have a criminal history and did not have any diagnosis of mental illness, according to Elvin.

Police said an argument may have sparked the incident. "So he clearly expressed an intention to do harm and he clearly expressed intentions to hurt police officers". A robot is being used to determine what is happening inside the home now. He also has seven guns registered under his name as a CPL holder.

Family and friends of the suspect have said he suffered from mental illness.

The gunman retreated to the home when police arrived and remains there - occasionally firing shots. "We need to do more", Craig said at a press conference following that shooting. "This is national. When will it end?"
