Google Shipped 3.9 Million Pixel Units Last Year

According to IDC's numbers, Google shipped 3.9 million Pixel phones in 2017. The original Pixel may have contributed significantly to this figure as well and to the claim of unit shipments doubling than the previous year because the original Pixel was launched in October 2016 and it continued to sell well into 2017.

Do you own one of the 3.9 million Pixel phones that Google shipped in 2017? Firstly, 3.9 million units is a small part of the overall Android market. That number is pretty much a drop in the ocean when you think that the smartphone market is worth around 1.5 billion smartphones.

With Waymo settlement, Uber CEO makes his mark
Waymo sought $1bn (£760m) from Uber in settlement talks over the alleged theft of self-driving technology. But US District Judge William Alsup had refused to allow Waymo to use that figure in the trial.

Google may not be entirely new to the smartphone scene, but it's still a minor player when it comes to sales.

Past year saw Google unveil the Pixel 2 and 2 XL handsets to take over from the original Pixel phones that launched back in 2016. Based on its most recent sales figures, Apple was selling nearly 850,000 iPhones each day in the first quarter of 2018. In comparison, between their release in April 2017 and August of the same year, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 plus sold 20 million units-and those were just two of the many phones released by Samsung that year.

Turkish troops killed in deadliest day of Kurdish offensive
Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced earlier that a military helicopter was "downed" in the Afrin operation. Hulusi Akar, and other commanders surveyed the operation from an airborne warning and control plane, the military said.

But the Pixel isn't a massive commercial success for Google for the time being.

The company is now expected to come up with additional mobile devices that can help it effectively compete in this crowded marketplace.

Why did Steve Kerr let his players coach against the Suns?
Most likely no one is going to say this, but this is borderline one of the most disrespectful things you can do to another team. Iguodala sat in Kerr's chair breaking down the plays to his teammates while Kerr stood a few feet away with his assistants.

One thing not many people will realize is that Google's smartphone pricing is even more high-end than Apple's, though. Lastly, Google Pixel smartphones are only available through Verizon, while the iPhone models are available in all carriers.
