Qualcomm unveils 2 Gbps LTE modem

Qualcomm unveils 2 Gbps LTE modem

The carriers in its trials are AT&T, British Telecom, China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, Deutsche Telekom, KDDI, KT Corporation, LG Uplus, NTT DOCOMO, Orange, Singtel, SK Telecom, Sprint, Telstra, TIM, Verizon and Vodafone Group. Connection to the entire range of spectrum bands to carriers would improve overall performance. Apart from this, Qualcomm also announced an additional partnership with companies that include Fujitsu Limited, Fujitsu Connected Technologies Limited, Inseego/Novatel Wireless, NetComm Wireless, NETGEAR, Sharp Corporation, Sierra Wireless, Telit, Wingtech, and WNC.

The Snapdragon X24 LTE might not sound like anything to get the tech glands all fizzy, but it claims to be the "world's most advanced 4G chip" able to deliver frankly ridiculous 2Gbps download speeds. So, it is possible that X24 LTE based mobile devices will launch only in 2019. The Snapdragon X20 is claimed to deliver download speeds of up to 1.2Gbps and is built on the commonly found 10nm process.

Sampling to customers has already begun with the first commercial devices expected by the end of 2018. It's likely that we'll see the X24 in the company's next-generation flagship chipset. The Snapdragon X24, on the other hand, is a future-ready modem - setting the ground for 5G connectivity. Today, Qualcomm announced its newest LTE modem for smartphones, the Snapdragon X24 which will enable 2 Gbps LTE speeds.

Candidates File Nominations in Nagaland, 443 in Meghalaya
Altogether 253 candidates have filed nomination papers to contest in the ensuing Assembly election of Nagaland. Scrutiny will be held on February 8 and the last date for withdrawal is February 12.

The promised speeds are almost twice as high as the predecessor, the Snapdragon X20, embedded into the Snapdragon 845.

Qualcomm has previously talked up the 5G X50 modem - boasting speeds up to 5Gpbs, but as it's a 5G chip it will appear in handsets after the X24.

The X24 is still a 4G chip, but it features Full Dimension Multi-Input Multi-Output (FD-MIMO) antenna technology that is a key foundation of future 5G NR (New Radio) networks - 5G NR is the global 5G standard. As far as upload speeds go, that will be quite a bit slower with a maximum of 316Mbps, and 3x20MHz carrier aggregation.

OxyContin Maker to Stop Marketing Opioid Products to Physicians
Purdue Pharma denies allegations of complicity in the opioid epidemic and says it is committed to curbing rates of opioid abuse. This announcement is coming after widespread criticism of the ways drug-makers market addictive painkillers.

Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can offer better mobile experiences such as 360-degree video, connected cloud computing, more entertainment and instant apps.

Serge Willenegger, senior vice president and general manager, 4G/5G and Industrial IOT, Qualcomm Wireless GmbH, said the Snapdragon X24 packs a powerful array of the most advanced 4G LTE technologies commercially available which will help mobile operators fully mobilize their spectrum assets and maximize the capacity of their networks. Operators will also be able to use their spectrum more efficiently while delivering high speeds to consumers.
