X appeal? New BMW X4 SUV unveiled

It's also got it where it counts, with the Performance Model rocking an inline six-cylinder engine.

To make the most of that power, not only do they have a firmer suspension set-up and a sports transmission, they also come on 20-inch alloy wheels as standard and have a sports exhaust system.

However, BMW has chose to forward the second-generation X4 quite prematurely probably due to the state of the competition.

An all-new version of BMW's coupe-shared X4 crossover has been unveiled ahead of its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show, which runs from 8 to 18 March.

The Champions League clash game is available in most countries through the rights holders' online platform, if they have one. Mohamed Salah is the favourite to score in the game, and we are also backing him as our prediction in this game.

But the core-selling model for the X4 is expected to be the 20d armed with 190hp 2.0-litre diesel-turbo, eight-speed automatic and xDrive four-wheel drive. Claimed economy for the 265PS diesel is a respectable 47.9mpg and 156g/km, while the 0-62mph sprint can be completed in 5.8 seconds.

The M40d, priced from £55,315, offers 326hp, gets from 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds, has official combined fuel economy of 44.1mpg, and Carbon dioxide emissions of 170g/km. Three full-size seats provide passengers with an additional 27 millimetres of legroom over the previous model, while boot has capacity has been increased to 525 litres. The new BMW also receives Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist systems, as standard.

It's more or less business as usual in the new X4's interior, which features a logical, modern layout, quality plastics and plenty of leather trim.

A straight-six diesel will power the range-topping M40d, which will generate 326PS and 680Nm of torque.

This is the second generation of the X4 - a rival for the Mercedes GLC Coupe and Jaguar F-Pace - and, like its predecessor, it's based on the X3, but trades some of that car's practicality for coupe-like styling and a sharper drive. Optional safety features include active cruise control, which can bring the auto to a stop and pull away again in traffic, along with traffic-sign recognition and lane-departure warning systems.

BMW has packed lots of standard perks into the new X4 - standard bi-LED headlights, a 10.25-inch infotainment display with navigation, along with a wide array of safety and driving assistance systems: front collision warning, city collision mitigation and braking, pedestrian detection.

The X4 also has the latest in connectivity, thanks to BMW's ConnectedDrive services. The BMW plant in the USA state of SC is the "Home of BMW x models" for the BMW X models within the BMW Group's global production network. A SIM card comes as standard, which allows the use of BMW Teleservices in the event of an emergency - with an automatic prompt if a low-speed collision is detected.
