Jayalalithaa's portrait unveiled in TN assembly

A day after the opposition parties, including the DMK, opposed it, the event saw Chief Minister K Palaniswami, deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam and Dhanapal paying tributes to the late leader. Congress MLA Vijayadharani, who had earlier strong comments in favour of unveiling the portrait of the former chief-minister in the Assembly, was conspicuous by her absence.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker P. Dhanapal on Monday unveiled the portrait of late former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa in the Assembly while major opposition parties boycotted the function saying such an honour should not be given to a convicted person.

Sonakshi Sinha: Was exciting to reunite with Salman Khan
We had to stop and announce that we were shooting a film and requested them to let us continue filming. Even before Arbaaz Khan's Dabangg 3 goes on floors, Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha are back together.

However, noting that the bench has to hear a plea moved by Congress leader P Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram challenging the lookout notice issued by the CBI, as per the direction of the Supreme Court, the bench said that it would take up the DMK's plea on Tuesday. We condemn this. She was a convict.

The petition also noted that DMK had already moved a plea in the High Court seeking to remove the name and photos of Jayalalithaa from government offices, buildings, public sector undertakings and government schemes - a case that is still pending.

Merkel defends coalition deal on German TV
The coalition deal has yet to be approved by the SPD's approximately 460,000 members, whose verdict will be announced on 4 March. Merkel would give the CDU a "clear signal towards personnel renewal ahead of the party conference", he said.

The Supreme Court had on February 14, 2017 found Sasikala, a long-time aide of Jayalalithaa, and two others guilty of amassing wealth disproportionate to their sources of income in a 21-year-old case in which the AIADMK founder was also an accused. "She made the whole world realize Tamil Nadu's existence", he added. The case against Jayalalithaa was, however, abated because she died but fines were levied on her properties. In his affidavit, the petitioner claimed that the presence of Jayalalithaa's portrait would set a bad precedent and send a wrong message to the younger generation.

"I thanked the Speaker since he has unveiled the picture of a woman chief minister", she told reporters here.

Study shows DNA nanobots can stunt and shrink cancer
While they're still experimental and haven't been tested in humans, these nanorobots show a lot of promise for treating cancer. They are made out of organic materials and in this case, it's DNA.

TTV Dinakaran, rebel faction leader of AIADMK, said the ruling faction was downplaying the event. Said political analyst Sumanth C Raman.
