Trump Just Went After the #MeToo Movement: 'Lives Are Being Shattered'

Sanders declined to explain why Chief of Staff John Kelly told aides and the news media he acted "within 40 minutes" of learning of the accusations against Porter last Tuesday even though he then continued to publicly praise Porter for nearly 24 hours, with White House officials saying Kelly wanted Porter to stay in the job.

Porter resigned Wednesday once reports of his behavior, which he has repeatedly denied, surfaced.

Nearly all of the questions Sanders faced on Monday were about the Porter allegations and the White House's response to them. He said talk of Kelly's departure is "much ado about nothing".

As staff secretary, Porter handled the president's paper flow, giving him access to highly sensitive information as well as the president himself. But the president reportedly declined Kelly's offer.

"I'm extraordinarily pleased with the job the chief has been doing".

The airline apologised to passengers and said it was doing "all we can" to ensure delayed flights depart as soon as possible. An employee of London's Heathrow Airport was killed in a "serious accident" between vehicles on the airfield on Wednesday.

Multiple senior White House officials defended Porter last week, even after published gruesome photos of a black eye Porter's first wife said was a result of him punching her.

Both of Porter's former wives told CNN that when they spoke to FBI investigators a year ago as part of the process for Porter obtaining a security clearance, they were truthful about what happened during their marriages.

After praising Porter on Friday, Trump on Saturday lamented that "lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation".

The official said staffers felt misled by how Porter played down the allegations, both to Kelly and McGahn. That abuse is something to be questioned and doubted.

Willoughby, who was married to Porter from 2009 to 2013 after his divorce from Holderness, also opined that Trump's response was symptomatic of a wider problem of denial tainting society's response to stories of abuse.

She added that Trump believes "you have to consider all sides". "He has said this in the past about incidents that relate to him as well". The next morning, the President characterized the words of Porter and Sorensen's ex-wives as "mere allegations". "The president supports victims of domestic violence, and believe everyone deserves to be treated fairly and with due process", she said, before later adding, "I'm not going to go beyond that".

But Conway insisted the president is "a man who shows great compassion and understanding for women".

Conway said Porter was a different person at the White House.

"Everyone wants to talk about how Trump implied I am a not to be believed". Everybody in the West Wing is.

By all accounts, Rob Porter was the model of what most parents, and most women, would call a "catch". In addition to Mulvaney, the others are House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Rep. Mark Meadows and CIA Director Mike Pompeo.

When Black Panther first came on tracking two weeks ago, NRG forecast a domestic opening of $125 million. Now looking at the film, we wouldn't have had time.

Some media say Mulvaney is one of the candidates to replace Kelly. Trump is known to frequently poll his advisers about the performance of senior staff and is often reluctant to actually fire aides.
