United Kingdom and Ireland in push to break Northern Ireland deadlock
The British government now faces the prospect of having to step in and take previously devolved decisions in Northern Ireland. The move comes as a significant blow to Theresa May who had flown to Belfast on Monday in the hopes of hammering out a deal.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department reported that authorities had been closely watching Loazia prior to his arrest. He was brought over in a trade with the Rangers, which is perhaps how Loaiza is best known in some Blue Jays' circles.

Loaiza was previously arrested in 2006 when he played for the Oakland Athletics.

"He basically told my assistant that he would call back", Boggs said, "and the next thing I know, this (Monday's report) hit". Investigators then obtained a warrant to search Loaiza home where they found the alleged cocaine.

This isn't the first time Loaiza has gotten in trouble with the law. He was being held for lack of $200,000 bail pending Wednesday's court appearance. After watching the pitcher leave his Imperial Beach home, which he just started renting in February, police stopped his auto for a "minor traffic infraction".

U.S. state secretary arrives in Lebanon, meets president
The US Secretary of state is on a five-day regional tour taking in Lebanon as well as Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait and Turkey. Lebanon is also protesting Israeli violations of Israeli airspace, often to bomb targets inside neighboring Syria.

Loaiza attended Chicago White Sox SoxFest in January in Chicago, where he met up with fans and took pictures.

A two-time All-Star, Loaiza won 126 games in his career, the second most for a Mexican-born pitcher behind Fernando Valenzuela. He was arrested in 2006, while playing for the Oakland Athletics, after he was caught driving 120 miles per hour on the freeway in his Ferrari and failed a sobriety test. Rivera died in a plane crash later that year.

Loaiza sued the aircraft's owners in 2014 for wrongful death, but Rivera's relatives accused him of trying to profit from her death.
