Universal Announces New 'Jurassic World Alive' AR Game

With the Jurassic World movie franchise being as huge as it is, will Jurassic World Alive benefit from that success and at least approach Pokemon Go-levels of attention? For all intents and purposes, it's exactly like Pokemon GO, just with dinosaurs.

The game will allow players to capture and collect dinosaurs. In a very Pokemon Go-like way, the developer said players are even able to assemble the "perfect dinosaur strike team" and "take on unsafe threats in real-time PVP arena battles" with other players. Jurassic World is one of many franchises being developed into AR apps in the wake of Pokemon Go, along with Harry Potter and The Walking Dead.

Life...er, finds a new way as Jurassic World gets its own Pokémon GO-inspired VR game for mobiles. Universal Studios and Montreal-based video game company Ludia have teamed up to create Jurassic World Alive. Free in-game incubators and exclusive dinosaurs, including unimaginable creatures featured in Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom lie behind every corner, just waiting to be discovered. It's reported that when you encounter different species of dinosaurs, you have to collect DNA samples.

The use of augmented reality features should only continue as Apple continues to invest in its platform-level ARKit resources for developers.

If you want more information on it, you can pre-register on the official site of the game. But while augmented reality appears to be here to stay, will any of these games be able to approach Pokemon's ridiculous download numbers?
