Tributes paid to Sir Ken Dodd by boss of Carlisle's Sands Centre

Sir Ken Dodd's widow said the world had "lost a most life-enhancing, brilliant, creative comedian" as she paid tribute to her husband following his death aged 90.

Dodd was "most famous for his longevity - the length of his career, the 42-week span of his record-breaking run at the London Palladium in 1965, but (most of all) for the duration of his performances", says The Guardian.

Julian Richings, who has appeared in films such as X-Men: The Last Stand, described him as a "music hall great, entertainment legend, Liverpool pride", adding: "The lights are out in Knotty Ash". "There is no-one else that comes close".

Ken was a national treasure and general manager Gavin Davis said: "As the general manager of Eastbourne Theatres, I was very fortunate to have met Sir Ken Dodd on a number of occasions".

He continued: "After five weeks in the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, he was allowed to return to his beloved Knotty Ash home on February 27 and is now convalescing in his home environment cared for by his loving partner, Anne Jones, who has never left his bedside".

However, he then passed the ball to an open Ante Zizic who proceeded to pull away and score. According to Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer, James is considering four teams .

"He was a comedy legend and genius".

'They got the registrar and were married in the house on Friday.

"He died two days later on Mother's Day".

"It's a love story to beat them all".

But all dates this year had to be cancelled due to his illness.

Liz asked Sir Ken to take on the role of chairman of Alder Hey Children's Hospital's 75th birthday appeal, to raise £1.75m to build a hydrotherapy pool for badly burned children, provide parent accommodation and help fund the bereavement counselling centre.

Also a well-known singer, in 1964 the star released his first single, Happiness, followed by smash hit Tears in 1965, and then Promises.

As well as being knighted in 2017, Dodd was awarded a string of other honours over the years, including an OBE and an honorary fellowship from the University of Chester.
