Married Iowa lawmaker resigns after being caught kissing woman at a bar

The incident caps a swift response from Republicans in the Senate after the liberal website Iowa Starting Line published video and photos showing Dix and a woman together at a Des Moines bar.

A married Republican senate leader has stepped down after video emerged showing him making out with a woman in a bar.

A prominent politician in the USA state of Iowa has resigned after he was caught appearing to kiss a lobbyist in a bar down the road from the State Capitol. He had been in the Senate since 2011, and was elected as Republican leader in 2013.

Dix has three children, according to the Des Moines Register, and had served in the state legislature for 18 years.

Also a well-known singer, in 1964 the star released his first single, Happiness, followed by smash hit Tears in 1965, and then Promises.

Sen. Rick Bertrand, R-Sioux City, who attended the meeting, said Dix "did the right thing for himself, for his family and for Iowans today and I think as a caucus we'll move forward". The video, which was taken by a customer at the bar the website did not identify, shows the two flirting and kissing.

The woman was identified as a lobbyist for Iowa League of Cities, an organization that seeks to sway legislation at the state Capitol.

"We are taking what we believe are appropriate actions, but because this is a personnel matter we can not comment further", League of Cities director of government affairs and legislative counsel Robert L. Palmer said in an email to the Des Moines Register. His biography had been deleted from the Iowa Senate Republicans website by Monday afternoon. The hook-up reportedly occurred on March 1 at the Waveland Tap, a watering hole about five miles from the Des Moines State Capitol.

The Senate Republic Caucus will meet on Wednesday to elect a new leader.

Indeed, the Saints' future is seemingly brighter than it's been in years, but Brees' deal was the 600-pound elephant in the room. I think he's the best there is. "I love my team and am excited about the opportunity we will have together", Brees said.

Told GOP Gov. Kim Reynolds in a statement, 'I believe he made the right decision in stepping down ...

Petersen used her statement to reiterate her criticism of Dix for how he handled a recent sexual misconduct case within the chamber, which involved former Senate GOP staffer, Kirsten Anderson. He represented Butler, Grundy, Hardin and Story counties.

Past year she was awarded a $2.1 million settlement for wrongful dismissal. In Nov., he held a rambling press conference in which he claimed that a report prepared by the Senate staff showed that harassment was no longer a problem in the Republican caucus.

Why more professional athletes may follow Richard Sherman's example
None more so than veteran offensive lineman Joe Staley, who's faced up against Sherman in some heated battles in the past. Sherman can push the value to $39 million, but only with incentives and bonuses that reflect a return to All-Pro form.
