Michael Carrick Confirms Retirement, Likely to Join Jose Mourinho's Coaching Staff

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick confirmed yesterday he will bring an end to his illustrious career at the end of the current season at the age of 36.

The two spent many glorious years in Manchester, over a decade in fact, as the Red Devils emerged as a dominant force in British and European football.

Speaking about Carrick's retirement, May said on MUTV's Paddy Crerand Show: "He has been absolutely top draw".

In January, manager Jose Mourinho said he would be "very happy" if Carrick made a decision to stay at the club in a non-playing capacity.
