Russia vows to expel UK diplomats

THE US has called the Salisbury spy poisoning "Russia's crime" and vowed to help Theresa May and the United Nations retaliate.

Russian Federation today retaliated, announcing it will remove British diplomats from its ranks and the British position was irresponsible.

President Vladimir Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Thursday reiterated Moscow's position that Britain's accusations were unfounded and that the poisoning of Skripal and his daughter had "all the signs of a provocation".

Earlier, the White House backed the UK's decision to expel diplomats.

When asked when the expulsions would happen, Mr Lavrov was quoted as saying: "Soon".

LONDON - The leaders of United States, Britain, France and Germany have released a joint statement condemning Russian Federation for the poisoning of Sergei Skripal in England last week.

In addition to the expulsions, the United Kingdom has announced measures that include increased checks on private flights, customs and freight as well as a boycott of this year's Fifa World Cup in Russian Federation by ministers and the Royal Family. Moscow did not address the matter before the deadline.

The rapid endorsement by its European and North American allies of Britain's assessment and retaliatory actions in relation to the Salisbury nerve agent attack is to be welcomed.

He added that he condemned the attack in the "strongest possible terms".

Previously, Russian officials have denied all of London's claims that Moscow had somehow been involved in the incident.

"President Macron said that France completely shares the U.K.'s assessment that there is no plausible explanation other than that Russian Federation was responsible for the attack and he once again expressed his full support for the a close and strong ally", the statement said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the British ambassador, Laurie Bristow, to a meeting on Saturday morning in central Moscow at its Stalin-era headquarters during which he was informed of the measures.

It noted that the incident "fits into a pattern of behaviour in which Russian Federation disregards the global rules-based order, undermines the sovereignty and security of countries worldwide, and attempts to subvert and discredit Western democratic institutions and processes".

The chemical weapon, known as Novichok, is extremely lethal and extraordinarily rare to find outside of Russian Federation.
