Lindsey Graham Warns Trump: Firing Mueller Would Be 'Beginning Of The End'

Republican Senator Jeff Flake, a frequent Trump critic, said it appeared the president's latest comments seemed to be preparing the ground for the firing of Mr Mueller.

"Does anyone think this is fair? And yet, there is NO COLLUSION!"

Republican lawmakers on Sunday sought to warn the President that any action against Mueller would not be tolerated by Congress. Department of Justice regulations do not consider partisan affiliation when assigning employees but do stipulate that DoJ personnel in sensitive posts are not allowed to participate in political campaigns or "engage in political activity".

Trump's allegations against Mueller come after the announcement that the special counsel has subpoenaed records from the Trump Organization. It is not simply a legal ploy when Republicans running interference for President Donald Trump call the FBI "corrupt" or when Trump's lawyer John Dowd calls to shut down the Russian Federation investigation.

"The Russian collusion" objective of the probe "failed", Corsi declared. "It is much broader than that", Rubio said.

Mr Trump's attacks raised new concerns among members of Congress that he could be seeking to orchestrate Mueller's firing. How many hundreds of thousands of dollars was given to wife's campaign by Crooked H friend, Terry M, who was also under investigation?

Russia vows to expel UK diplomats
THE US has called the Salisbury spy poisoning " Russia's crime" and vowed to help Theresa May and the United Nations retaliate. The chemical weapon, known as Novichok , is extremely lethal and extraordinarily rare to find outside of Russian Federation .

"I've not heard a lot of outcry from Republicans, " Short said on CBS's "Face the Nation" program.

Trump followed this Sunday morning with another tweet more directly condemning Mueller's team. Dick Durbin (D-IL) said "If the president reaches out and stops this investigation that is a constitutional crisis in this country".

"Our Republican colleagues, particularly the leadership, have an obligation to our country to stand up now and make it clear that firing Mueller is a red line for our democracy that can not be crossed", he said in a statement.

Not all lawmakers were convinced, however, that Dowd's statement and Trump's tweets added up to an actual effort to derail the probe. "And I would just hope that enough people would prevail on the president now: 'Don't go there'".

"I just don't think the President - as unpredictable as he is - would fire Mueller, and I take the view, and I said so maybe not directly to the President, but indirectly to the President: Just let this work its course", Republican Sen. "When I thought my answers were misunderstood, I contacted investigators to correct them", he added.

FILE - Andrew McCabe, right, accompanied by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, second from left, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, takes the podium at a news conference at the Department of Justice, July 20, 2017, in Washington. When a witness to conversations and interactions with Trump who has turned over information to the investigation is fired, the danger goes beyond the investigation directly at hand.

Russian Federation spy poisoning: 23 United Kingdom diplomats expelled from Moscow
The British government has confirmed the expulsion of 23 of its diplomats from Russian Federation , and says the U.K. British Ambassador Laurie Bristow is expected at the Russian Foreign Ministry late Saturday morning.

In a statement, McCabe claimed his dismissal was politically-motivated and that he had been targeted because "he can corroborate former [FBI] Director [James] Comey's accounts of his discussions with the President".

Those memos could be fodder for Mr Mueller's probe regarding potential obstruction of justice by the USA leader.

Trump, however, isn't sold that McCabe's notes, or Comey's, were actually taken at the time they say they were. I don't believe he made memos except to help his own agenda, probably at a later date.

Trump has long believed that the entrenched bureaucracy, particularly at the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation, is out to thwart him and has pointed to McCabe's wife's associations with Democrats, including longtime Clinton ally Terry McAuliffe, as an example. "Can we call them Fake Memos?"

Also on Sunday, Trump tweeted, "Why does the Mueller team have 13 ..."

Xi Jinping unanimously elected Chinese president
Mr Xi was also voted chairman of the Central Military Commission, receiving the full measure of 2,970 votes. Wang helped Xi consolidate his hold on power by playing a leading role in his anti-corruption campaign.
