Severe Weather Threat Continues This Evening

A potent storm system will sweep across the Carolinas on Sunday bringing a line of rain & storms along with an increased risk of severe weather. A cold front could produce a few showers and more clouds Thursday, but moisture return ahead of this system looks questionable.

With the severe weather having moved out of all of Southwest Louisiana, a strong cold front has dropped temperatures already into the upper 50s to lower 60s with some peeks of sunshine already noted on area sky cam views. What is expected to be widespread is heavy rain - 1-2 inches locally more.

The main threat with any storms that develop this afternoon will be small hail.

South Georgia has the potential for scattered severe thunderstorms on Sunday. The strongest storms finally exit our eastern counties during the pre-dawn hours of Sunday morning. A warning is the time to take action, which mostly means getting away from windows toward the central part of the lowest level of your home or building.

A First Alert Action Day was issued for the Heartland for the threat of severe weather on Friday with the highest threats being high winds.

Marginally severe storms will be possible until 10 a.m. this morning in North Alabama, according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville.
