8th Victim of Alleged Serial Killer Bruce McArthur ID'd

Suspected Canadian serial killer has been charged with an eighth murder after the police have identified remains of a Sri Lankan man believed to have been murdered by the suspect.

66, was charged on Monday with the eighth count of first degree murder in the death of Kirushna Kumar Kanagaratnam, 37, BBC reported.

Idsinga says Kanagaratnam's remains were found at a home McArthur used as storage for his landscaping business.

Idsinga revealed few other details about Kanagaratnam other than to say he arrived in Canada from Sri Lanka in 2010, lived in the east Toronto suburb of Scarborough, and was never formally reported missing in Canada despite having distant relatives in the Greater Toronto Area.

Toronto police were able to identify Kanagaratnam with the help of an global government agency after circulating a photo of him that was found during their investigation.

He added that if McArthur is connected to any historic murders in the city and there are grounds to lay charges, the case would likely be separate from the current case before the courts.

In addition to the new avenues opened up by the discovery of Kanagaratnam's remains, police have also expanded the sprawling investigation decades into the past by examining some cold cases.

When asked how police narrowed down a timeframe for Kanagaratnam's death, Idsgina said records assisted police in the timeline but he would not elaborate further. The body of the 8th victim has never been found. "I don't know yet", said Idsinga on Monday.

McArthur was already charged in the deaths of Andrew Kinsman, 49; Selim Esen, 44; Majeed Kayhan, 59; Soroush Mahmudi, 50; Dean Lisowick, 47; Skandaraj "Skanda" Navaratnam, 40, and Abdulbasir Faizi, 42.

Kayhan's remains have not yet been found. The disappearance became part of a police investigation called Project Prism launched in August.

Toronto police believe that Kanagaratnam was killed sometime between Sept 3 and Dec 14 2015.

Police have said that McArthur had some sort of relationship with each of his victims, some of which were sexual.
