National Weather Service confirms EF-1 tornado in Decatur County

EF2 is considered a "strong" tornado with maximum wind speeds of 111 to 135 miles per hour.

A brief tornado northeast of New Castle on Sunday afternoon was apparently the first to ever hit Craig County.

A survey team from the National Weather Service in Blacksburg investigated that damage to determine the wind speeds within the tornado and the length of its track, but had yet to issue a final report as of Monday evening. There have been no reports of tornado touch downs or damage.

The CDC reports that this investigation remains active, and that it will provide an update when it can. One of those people added to the infected list in the CDC's most recent update is a MI resident.

To the north, Boston Marathon contestants ran in a drenching rain with temperatures in the mid-30s and wind gusts above 30 miles per hour (48 kph).
