"I had a lot of my success due to appearing at the Garden". We shall provide more updates as and when they are made public.

The relationship between Sammartino and McMahon Sr. began around 1960 when Sammartino joined the Capitol Wrestling Corporation, a precursor to the WWWF.

It was during this time that a young Sammartino started lifting weights and soon caught the eye of one of the WWE's forefathers Vincent J. McMahon, who introduced him to Professional Wrestling.

After impressing many with his moves and stunts, Sammartino was put on TV, where he was seen by wrestling promoter Rudy Miller, who recruited Sammartino to be a pro wrestler.

In early 1968, Sammartino headlined the first wrestling event at the brand-new Madison Square Garden, just eight days after it opened. He managed to sellout the venue 187 times. He lost his championship to Ivan Koloff in 1971 but won it back in 1973 to become the first-ever two-time WWE Champion.

Sammartino and WWE had a bitter falling out in the late 1980s that lasted until the company's greatest star accepted his induction into the Hall of Fame in 2013.
