Coach Allardyce says Rooney hasn't asked to leave Everton

Everton's Wayne Rooney applauds fans after the match.

Earlier on Friday, boss Sam Allardyce said he was looking forward to speaking with Rooney and insisted that the former England captain had not asked to leave the club.

West Ham United manager Moyes was in charge at Everton as Rooney progressed through the ranks and handed the 16-year-old player his debut in 2002.

Sky Sports News has reported that "a deal in principle" has been agreed between the Englishman and MLS franchise DC United for the player to join the club when the U.S. transfer window opens in July.

"I can tell you great stories about Wayne and the things that he has done".

"And neither has Wayne Rooney had any confrontation with me or been in any hard situation in the time since I've been here because we are two adults and we talk".

However, with Allardyce not alluding to any injury doubts regarding the 32-year-old during his pre-West Ham United press conference, that seems unlikely.

"I've always looked at Wayne Rooney as someone who just wants to play football, wants to get on the ball, touch the ball 40, 50, 60, 70 times and sometimes that has been his Achilles heel". Only when I speak to him today I'll find out where the situation lies.
