Caps' fan flies home in between cancer treatments to watch Game 3

The Washington Capitals host the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Tuesday. The Capitals know first hand how risky it can be to squander a 2-0 lead at home, having survived being in the Lightning's position in the opening round when they dropped the first two games to the Columbus Blue Jackets only to win three straight road games en route to a 4-2 series win.

The Lightning rebounded to take a 2-1 lead in the first period of Game Two, but the Capitals responded with 5 unanswered goals to take a convincing 2-0 series lead.

"I like the playoffs", Eller, who has 11 points (five goals, six assists) this postseason, told NHL.com.

The Capitals' 4-2 loss Tuesday to the Tampa Bay Lightning was the first time Washington had lost since Backstrom injured his hand. Braden Holtby made 33 saves for Washington and has stopped 52 of 56 shots in two games, winning the goaltending battle with Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Deadly Orange County explosion investigated as intentional act
The federal official said the information about a package-based explosion was based on a preliminary investigation. Some reports indicated the building might have been under construction work at the time.

But the key to the Game 3 victory was Tampa Bay's refusal to squander that effort from their stars, both offensively and defensively. During last year's playoff series between the Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs, many fans were forced to leave Game 2 when it was tied 3-3 in overtime because metro service was ending soon.

The expansion Vegas Golden Knights, meanwhile, are slight favorites over their Western Conference opponents, the Winnipeg Jets, even though the latter has more first-line firepower and the series is even at 1-1. The Lightning power play is now 5 for 12 in the series. "A great player for us all year, but you got two world-class centermen in front of him".

Evgeny Kuznetsov made it 4-2 late in the third period, but it was too little too late by that point.

After tallying two points in each of the first two games, Alex Ovechkin was stifled in Game 3, but not without trying.

Pakistan collapse gives Ireland hope of remarkable Test victory
Abbas took his second five-wicket haul in Test cricket, in his sixth game, to finish with figures of 5-66 in 28.3 overs. Imam and Barbar however knuckled down and dented Ireland's opening spell as the visitors went to lunch on 52/3.

"A big thing for us, and I think it's worked I guess in the three games, is the team that really gets the lead is the team that's in the driver's seat", Cooper said.

4 on 3 for the Bolts.

The Capitals still own a 2-1 series lead with Game 4 coming Thursday at home. "It doesn't matter if we play in whatever city tonight".

Washington didn't have much of the magic they found in abundance in Tampa, although their possession numbers showed they controlled the majority of the shot share. "We didn't get 113 points by playing that way". This was more like the Tampa Bay team that had rolled over New Jersey and Boston in the previous two rounds, rather than the team that had been outscored 10-4 in Games 1 and 2 against Washington.

Keeper Neuer in Germany's preliminary World Cup squad, Goetze out
Fellow Borussia Dortmund player Marco Reus' hopes of making his first World Cup got a boost after he made the cut. The 25-year-old scored an injury-time victor in the final four years ago as the German's saw off Argentina.
