Google's Pixel Buds Get Track Skipping, Better Bluetooth Device Switching

There was no way to skip tracks without summoning the Google Assistant, for instance. This comes in the form of new gestures, such as the triple tap on the right earbud that will let users turn the earbuds on or off.

Google has announced it's rolling out three new features for Pixel Buds. Your Pixel Buds will disconnect from the device you were using and connect to the new one.

Now, Google is adding even more supported gestures via an over-the-air software update.

You'll notice that double tap is in there twice, that's because the action is actually configurable. When the software update arrives, users will be able to change the function of the double-tap.

The new controls are accessible when you're using your Pixel Buds in concert with your Pixel phone or any other Android phone that has the Google Assistant on it. You can still use voice commands to skip songs if you wish. All you have to do is choose the Pixel Buds on the device you want to stream from (provided you have paired both up in the past), and they'll disconnect from the device they're now connected to and start streaming from the new one.

The new gestures are now rolling out and will be available to everyone by early next week. The Pixel buds will automatically install the new update when users place them inside the case.
