Turkey tells Israeli consul in Istanbul to leave temporarily: state media

More than 60 Palestinians have been killed and over 2,000 others wounded in clashes with Israeli security troops since Monday on the border between Israel and Gaza, amid mass demonstrations to protest over the US embassy opening in Jerusalem.

Israel's Foreign Ministry said the Turkish Consul-General in Jerusalem had been summoned and told to return to Turkey "for consultations for a period of time".

On Monday, Erdogan, who is in London for three-day official talks, spoke to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas over the phone.
